We’re recruiting an Ocean Export Supervisor to join an established global freight forwarding business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who combines strong operational knowledge with natural leadership skills and a genuine passion for developing people.

You’ll play a key role in driving operational performance, supporting commercial growth and helping a busy Ocean Export department achieve its full potential.

About the Role:

As Ocean Export Supervisor, you’ll work closely with the Department Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, support your team and ensure customers receive a consistently high standard of service.

This is more than just an operational role. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how the department operates, identify improvements, develop team members and contribute directly to business growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the smooth running of daily Ocean Export operations, ensuring customer requirements and procedures are consistently met.
  • Leading and supporting team meetings, allocating workloads and sharing market intelligence.
  • Reviewing freight quotations and supporting competitive pricing and commercial opportunities.
  • Working alongside management to achieve departmental revenue, profitability and performance targets.
  • Building strong relationships with shipping lines, hauliers, suppliers and key customers.
  • Supporting the onboarding of new business and ensuring a seamless transition into operations.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and enhance customer service.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing team members through regular feedback and performance discussions.
  • Supporting compliance, training and the implementation of new systems and operational improvements.

What Our Client Is Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within freight forwarding or the wider logistics industry, ideally with a strong Ocean Export background.
  • Previous supervisory experience or the ability to demonstrate strong team leadership and coaching skills.
  • Excellent understanding of international freight forwarding operations and global logistics.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of operational performance, profitability and customer retention.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • College, university or equivalent business qualifications.
