Following the UK leaving the EU on Thursday 31st December 2020, we continue to work with many freight forwarders, manufacturers & supply chain companies, helping them prepare for Brexit and the extra Customs formalities & declarations that will need to be processed, from the 1st January 2021.

Since launching SDW in 2002, recruiting Customs professionals has always formed a significant part of our recruitment solutions. From sourcing & placing experienced Import Customs Entry Coordinators, through to Customs Compliance Managers & whole teams, dedicated to Customs clearing cargo in and out of the UK.

Recently, we have helped many companies within the logistics sector help prepare for Brexit, by recruiting additional Customs professionals into their businesses & will continue to do so.

If you are actively recruiting for Customs professionals, albeit to complete Customs declarations or to manage internal Customs compliance, we are well placed to assist.

Many of our clients have also taken advantage of Customs Grant Scheme for recruitment.

The Customs Grant Scheme is available to all organisations, who meet the eligibility criteria, to cover the associated recruitment costs of hiring a new employee up to a maximum of £15,000 per recruit

The recruitment grant will provide funding for expenditure associated with hiring new employees to complete customs declarations or other declarations associated with customs declarations processes, and/or manage customs processes and use customs software and systems.

This includes funding for:

  • The indirect costs involved with recruitment include (but are not limited to) advertising and marketing, application review and interview time, employment agency fees, and on-boarding processes for external hires
  • Gross direct salary costs for a newly employed member of staff or apprentice with a minimum of a 12-month contract of employment, up to a maximum of £12,000.
