Terminal Supervisor (Break Bulk Handling)

The role

To oversee and control all break bulk handling including lift activities as part of the Terminal Supervisor Group. Ensure allocated team are used in the most cost effective and efficient manner to meet requirements of all customers whether internal or external. Liaise with Senior Supervisor to ensure appropriate labour/skills are available for lifting and lashing activities jobs.

Assist the lift team to ensure all lifting equipment is safe to use, liaise regularly with the appropriate stakeholders about equipment stock, also prepare for any inspections. The successful candidate will need to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations and accreditations relating to break bulk handling are complied with.

Liaise with external supplier as required to ensure all appropriate lifting documentation is issued in a timely manner and meets legal and safety requirements.

Assist in other areas of Terminal Operations and the wider business within skills level as and when required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience of a supervisor or line management role
  • Proven experience of delivering safe and reliable lifting jobs
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Exposure to Break Bulk cargo
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Team player
  • Qualified forklift operator – essential
  • Full clean driving licence
