Are you an experienced Customs Clerk looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, a well-established independent freight forwarder specialising in European road and deep-sea freight, is expanding their team in Ipswich and is looking for a motivated professional to join their growing operation.
In this role, you’ll handle a variety of import and export customs clearances via CDS, working across both European road freight and deep-sea shipments. You’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth, compliant, and efficient movements for major clients — making a real impact on day-to-day logistics operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and processing import and export documentation in line with customs regulations.
- Completing accurate entries using CDS for European and ocean freight clearances.
- Calculating and submitting customs duties and taxes for prompt goods clearance.
- Raising T1 documents and managing the transit procedure.
- Using systems such as CNS, Destin8, and Multifreight/Multished to record entries.
- Liaising with clients, HMRC, and other departments to ensure smooth shipment flow.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years’ experience in customs entries (import/export).
- Solid understanding of CDS, commodity codes, and customs procedures.
- Confident navigating HMRC’s online tariffs and interpreting AEO standards.
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex requirements clearly to customers.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, team-focused attitude.
